STEWART PARKER TRUST AWARDS 2017 ANNOUNCED

The Stewart Parker Trust Awards ’17 were announced at the Lyric Theatre today.

Set up in honour of the late Belfast playwright, Stewart Parker (1941-1988), the Stewart Parker Trust seeks to encourage new writers for theatre in Ireland, North and South. The main award is the New Playwright Bursary, awarded annually to an emerging playwright. Two BBC Northern Ireland awards have also been established in Stewart Parker’s memory and form part of this annual initiative.

The New Playwright Bursary was awarded to Karen Cogan for The Half of It.

The BBC Northern Ireland Radio Drama Award was awarded to Kevin Barry for Autumn Royal.

The BBC Northern Ireland Irish Language Drama Award was awarded to Róisín Sheehy for Snámh na Saoirse.

The Stewart Parker Trust Shortlist for 2017 was:
