SIX IN THE ATTIC 2012

6 Dec 2011

Irish Theatre Institute is delighted to announce the participants in the second 12-month cycle of its artist support scheme, Six in the Attic (2012). This initiative is made possible by funding under the Arts Council’s Theatre Resource Sharing Scheme.

The Six in the Attic (2012) participants are:

Andrew Adamson (Actor/Theatre Maker, the Collective Theatre Company)
Amy Conroy
(Actor/Writer, HotforTheatre)
Conor Hanratty
(Director)
Elaine Murphy
(Playwright)*
Lara Hickey
(Independent Producer)
Ray Scannell
(Playwright)*
Theatre Lovett
(‘Purveyors of Fine Theatre for Men, Women and Children’)

Six in the Attic provides creative and physical space for artists and companies at a particular stage of development.  Based at ITI, the scheme allows participants to engage, explore, develop, debate and to concentrate on their projects and ideas. The practical supports comprise individual desk space with Wifi, photocopying, printing and access to larger rooms for meetings, readings and project development. Crucially, these resources are complemented by ITI’s extensive in-house expertise and mentoring delivered in a bespoke fashion in the areas of producing, professional development, funding applications, strategic thinking, touring (national/international), networking and financial planning. Additional specialist expertise is provided by industry leaders on a bi-monthly basis.

Six in the Attic (2011) was enormously successful and we were delighted to have had the opportunity to work with such a talented and creative group of people. Some will remain with us for another year and others are moving on to new projects and pastures. ITI will continue to support those participants who are not involved in the second cycle (ANU Productions, Jody O’Neill and Priscilla Robinson) as they are now key members of the ITI family. We look forward to working with the 2012 participants and will help and support them in realising their artistic and entrepreneurial aims in the coming 12 months.

*Elaine Murphy and Raymond Scannell will share the Playwrights’ Pod in Six in the Attic.
