SHOW IN A BAG PLAYS ANNOUNCED WINNERS AT THE 2017 ZEBBIE AWARDS

The 2017 ZeBBie Award Winners were announced by Senator David Norris at a ceremony in The Sugar Club, Dublin on Wednesday 28th June.

Amongst the winners were two playscripts written as part of the Show in a Bag initiative and premiered at Dublin Fringe Festival 2016: Margaret McAuliffe received the Best Theatre Script award for ‘The Humours of Bandon’ and Kate Gilmore won Best Radio Script award for ‘The Wickedness of Oz’.

Show in a Bag is an artist development initiative of Irish Theatre Institute, Dublin Fringe Festival and Fishamble: The New Play Company to resource theatre makers and actors. The first Show in a Bag initiative was established in 2010 to facilitate the creation of five new small scale, tourable shows which would highlight the talents and skills of performers making work for the Dublin Fringe Festival.

The ZeBBie Awards are annual awards created by the Writer’s Guild of Ireland — named in honour of O. Z. Whitehead — to acknowledge the best script(s) written by Irish playwrights and screenwriters during the previous year.
