SEASON’S GREETINGS

22 Dec 2014

As 2014 draws to an end, it’s great to look back on what has been a fantastic year at ITI and to also thank all of the amazing artists, companies and partners we have worked with and supported over the past 12 months. It’s been a year of positive engagement with the professional theatre sector in Ireland and abroad. Some 2014 highlights are listed for you below.

ITI recently revealed the new participants selected for Six in the Attic2015/16 and wish well all the fantastic artists previously involved in this Resource Sharing scheme who have contributed a great deal of inspiration, fun and pride to our working space. In our continuous efforts to provide ongoing support of artists following successful completion of our mentoring programmes, ITI hosted the inaugural meeting of the ITI Alumni earlier this month and in 2015 aim to develop this programme further, working with these artists and companies. 2014 has also marked yet another extremely successful edition of Show in a Bag, an initiative in which ITI is a partner alongside Tiger Dublin Fringe Festival and Fishamble: The New Play Company. With previous years’ shows touring around the world, we are delighted to see that already all of this year’s participants have busy touring agendas into 2015. On an international scale, in 2014 the ITI Team represented the Irish theatre scene in Australia (APAM), Armenia (ITI World Congress) and Belgium (ENICPA) with the aim of promoting the art form and creating opportunities for Irish artists abroad. ITI’s networking events (Information Toolbox and ITX) have attracted many presenters and companies and continue to be an invaluable resource for many artists to start conversations about their projects and articulate their ambitions in a friendly, conducive environment. As always, we continue to invest time and energy to support new Irish writing – the Playography database continues to grow with almost 4,000 entries and over 100 ePlays available for download. In September 2014 ITI launched the newest addition to its suite of websites IRISHTHEATRE.ie – the ‘go to’ resource for professional theatre in Ireland. Updated daily, the ITI team gathers sector-related news and events under one heading, with links to relevant pages providing detailed information on companies, venues and more. Our door is always open for artists and companies, whether for an Information Clinic, longer term Mentoring through Sessions of 10, room for rehearsal, reading or casting or simply hot-desking.

It’s with fulfilment and satisfaction that we close 17 Eustace St tomorrow and head for a little break. 2015 is already looking like a very busy year with lots of brand new projects underway – watch this space!
