ITI PARTNERS WITH BABORÓ INTERNATIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL FOR CHILDREN ON THE GROW PROGRAMME

Irish Theatre Institute will work with Baboró in an advisory capacity on the GROW programme to support artists in making work for children and young audiences.

 

Baboró International Arts Festival for Children recently announced details of its GROW programme, which aims to support Irish-based artists who are currently active in making work for children and young audiences, or who have an interest in doing so. Now in its 21st year, Baboró already has a long history of mentoring and supporting artists and educators who are committed to placing the creative development of children and young people at the heart of their work.

Irish Theatre Institute (ITI) is delighted to partner with Baboró on GROW in an advisory capacity on the Pathways to Production and Festival Mentoring strands.

The GROW programme will continue to build on Baboró’s existing supports, and this October will also introduce two new strands: Pathways to Production and Festival Mentoring. The GROW programme hopes to solidify and support the development of artists and the TYA (Theatre for Young Audiences) sector in Galway and throughout the country.

 

Aislinn Ó hEocha, Baboró’s Executive Artistic Director commenting on the GROW programme: “Through the GROW programme, our primary objective is to support artists involved in creating work for young audiences. There will be opportunities for artists to connect in with a highly skilled support network and for them to attend quality Irish and international work for young audiences through the annual Baboró International Arts Festival for Children; Baboró’s Galway2020 project, other Baboró events and our year-round work. Applications are welcome from artists all over Ireland at any stage of their career. We’re very excited about meeting artists who are as passionate about creating work for young audiences as we at Baboró are.”

 

The GROW programme includes a number of strands which interested candidates can apply for. Two of the recently introduced strands are Pathways to Production and Festival Mentoring.

The GROW programme is open to artists at any stage of their career who are based in Galway, the west of Ireland or anywhere else in the country. Applications are now open. Closing date for receipt of applications is 21 September 2017.
