3 Aug 2011

Irish Theatre Institute is delighted to launch its new website www.irishtheatreinstitute.ie

ITI’s new website has been designed to further enhance its information provision services. The site contains a wealth of information including news on its upcoming events – Information Toolbox (16 09t) and International Theatre Exchange (6 & 7 10), podcasts and transcripts from past International Theatre Exchanges, Findings Reports from PLAYOGRAPHYIreland. There is also information on Six in the Attic, ITI’s resource sharing initative, Show in a Bag, an artist development project created by ITI, Fishamble: the New Play Company and ABSOLUT Fringe and ReViewed a curated showcase of successful Irish productions restaged in partnership with Culture Ireland and Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival.

Online information provision has played a key role in ITI’s activities since it began work on PLAYOGRAPHYIreland in 2001. PLAYOGRAPHYIreland is a content-rich fully searchable database of new Irish plays in the Irish and English language since 1901. In the past ten years ITI’s websites have expanded and grown to provide the Irish and international theatre sector with a suite of services including Irish Theatre Online, a comprehensive database of Irish theatre, dance and opera companies venues and festivals. This site also houses Irish Theatre Artists, a database containing the profiles of 700 freelance Irish theatre and dance professionals.

The launch of this website is the first of a two-stage redevelopment of ITI’s online resources and will be followed by the launch of the new PLAYOGRAPHYIreland site in the coming weeks.
