12 Sep 2014

The ‘go-to’ Information Resource for Professional Theatre in Ireland

WHO? WHAT? WHERE? WHEN?

Irish Theatre Institute (ITI) launches IRISHTHEATRE.ie on Friday 12th September, 10am. This new website represents an up-to-date, comprehensive online directory of professional theatre in Ireland, North and South. Containing detailed information on 130+ theatre, dance and opera companies, 100+ venues and networks, and 30+ theatre and arts festivals, the directory also houses listings on funding bodies, training and support organisations, actor and literary agencies and international performing arts festivals and networks. The directory is complemented by interactive maps, videos, podcasts and images.

IRISHTHEATRE.ie enables theatre professionals and the general public to access up-to-date theatre information in one easy to navigate site. It also functions as an arts portal, providing an edited selection of theatre news from a range of national and international media. IRISHTHEATRE.ie is a point of access to current and upcoming theatre events around Ireland, courtesy of The Arts Council’s Culturefox website.

Speaking recently, ITI Co-Director Jane Daly commented “IRISHTHEATRE.ie gives an insight into the richness and variety of Irish theatre in the contemporary setting with an unrivalled directory of companies, venues, festivals, funding bodies, training and support opportunities as well up to the minute theatre-related news and events. We, at ITI, are confident that IRISHTHEATRE.ie will be an irresistible addition to the virtual facilities on offer by ITI to all those involved in our vibrant sector, nationally and internationally”.

IRISHTHEATRE.ie is a key resource in the suite of information and research websites provided by ITI and complements the existing IRISHTHEATREINSTITUTE.ie and IRISHPLAYOGRAPHY.com. Along with its programme of Information and Support Services, Research and International Networking and Promotion initiatives, ITI aims to create opportunities abroad and strengthen resources at home for theatre artists, companies, venues and festivals.
